Bridge Over Troubled Water ( Simon & Garfunkel )

When you're weary, feeling small
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all
I'm on your side, oh, when times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you (ooh)
I'll take your part, oh, when darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

Sail on silver girl
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
Oh, if you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind

Dora came by and helped with the caption.

This picture was take somewhere in the Texas Panhandle in 1957. Our parents were migrant workers and would go pick cotton in the area around Lubbock, Texas. Dora  took her first out of state trip at the age of 30 days.  Dora, the explorer had arrived.

Third grade school picture and the only time Dora have worn ruffles. Dora went to the Robert E. Lee Elementary  school in Eagle Pass. She skipped the 2nd. grade, due to her above average  intelligence or bad record keeping by the school.

This is Maria Elena's quincianera :), Dora  just stood in. She designed Dora's (her) dress, and everything else in the celebration.

Maria Elena's organizational skill are impressive.  Here are the (damas) girls in the celebration court.  From left to right as best as can be recalled: Unknown, Gloria Almaguer, Margarita Gonzalez, Mary Jane Vasquez (Bermea), Pilar Castaneda (Garcia), Becky, Sylvia Cerda, Dora, Sylvia Amaya (Olivas), Yolanda Cerda, Norma Jimenez (Riojas), Rosario Flores, Margarita Cantu, Unknown. Younger girls in the front: Beatrice Vasquez (Hernandez), Olga Rendon (Vasquez), Lupe Morua.

The mantilla (head dress) is now 31 years old and still in very good condition.  Dora still has the dress and other articles of a traditional Mexican quincianera.  The Spanish comb worn with the lace, broke as Dora was getting into the car that day, that was not kept.

Dora dancing with her father.  The next time they dance was at her wedding in 1978.

Dora and Luis with baby Daniel (Maria Elena's son).  Notice the curlers worn by Dora.  She is trying to get Marsha Brady hair.

Dora, 30 pounds and two children ago. She is still were those shorts! My, My.

1975 was a good year for Dora.

Nathan Almaguer DeAubrey, born in1981.

Nathan and Dora, at her graduation from Texas A & I Universtiy.  Dora received her Bachelors of Science in Education with a minor in biology.  Nathan will be born about a month later.
